These beautiful cats live in the mountain ranges of central Asia, including the Himalayas and the Tien Shan. Vulnerable to poachers who covet their striking fur and by herders who feel their livestock is threatened by the cats, as few as 3,500 snow leopards remain in the wild today. The International Snow Leopard Trust (ISLT) is an organization of conservationists working hard to protect the endangered cats. ISLT partners with local people who share their homelands with snow leopards to find solutions that improve their lives while also protecting the cats.
